It was all a dream.

Can Tanyol is a film director whose work focuses on social cohesion in a diverse Europe. In his cross-genre films, he is inspired by the different cultures he grew up with in Hamburg and Istanbul. During his directing studies at the Babelsberg Film University, Can worked as Fatih Akin's personal assistant during the shooting of the feature film "The Golden Glove". Can's graduation film "Verrücktes Blut" was produced in collaboration with ARD (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg) and won the jury prize for best short film at the prestigious Hofer Filmtage 2023. His short films have been shown at international festivals such as Camerimage, Hofer Filmtage, Filmfest München, Interfilm Berlin and Regensburger Kurzfilmwoche. In addition to his work as a director, Can also gives lectures on the topic of diversity in film, for example as a guest of Minister of State Claudia Roth at the parliamentary Berlinale reception 2024 in the German Parliament on the topic 'Moving Times: The Future of German Film'. He was also part of the 'Forum Talentfilm Deutschland 2025' a networking event initiated by the 'Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis' 'PROG – Producers of Germany' and the 'Kuratorium junger Deutscher Film'. Can speaks fluent German, Turkish, English and has a good knowledge of French.

He is developing his first feature film, VATERSEELENALLEIN, which recently secured screenplay funding from the German Federal Film Board (FFA), and is simultaneously leading the development of a series as showrunner for German television.
